Come join the Historical Harp Society
Historical Harp Retreat
Morro Bay, California

Our venue will be the charming, intimate stone chapel of the Coalesce Bookstore — the acoustics are fantastic for harp!

La Serena Inn, only 1/2 block from the Coalesce Chapel, is offering us a special rate of $129 plus tax per night, Sunday through Thursday nights. The rate includes continental breakfast, as well as complimentary coffee/tea and cookies in the reception area.
Just call the hotel directly at 1-800-248-1511 (or 805-772-5665) and let the desk agent know that you are part of the Historical Harp Society Group. Or go to laserenainn.com, select the dates and room, under “rate options” put HARP22. The rates that show up are a subtotal of the room rates for the entire stay and not a daily rate. As you continue the online booking process it will show you the nightly rate breakdown.

Our membership dinner/meeting will be at Dorn’s Original Breakers Cafe with excellent food, and merely 2 blocks from our hotel and the chapel retreat site.

The Retreat will begin the task of assembling what we have learned over our 30 years.

Workshops will compare and contrast harps and their music of different eras.

Jam sessions will be fun times to pluck away together on music of the ages.

(There will be lap harps available for use during the workshops and jam sessions that can be stowed there at the chapel.)

There will be daily scholarly presentations.

There will be a field trip into San Luis Obispo to visit Triplett harps and learn about conception and construction of harps. We’ll also go to Mission San Luis Obispo (est. 1772) to learn about the old California missions in preparation for the mission music presentation that afternoon.

And of course concerts by some of our leading performers will delight us and local audiences.

The local airport and also Amtrak station are in nearby San Luis Obispo. There will be free shuttle service provided by volunteer Friends of the Historical Harp Society. Just let us know your arrival time at info@historicalharpsociety.org and we’ll be there!

How can you not come? See you there!
